Classic Sugar Cookies With Vanilla Frosting


PREP TIME: 2 Hours Minutes/ COOK TIME: 18 Minutes

INGREDIENTS: For Cookies: 4.5 Cups Of All Purpose Flour, 1.5 TSP Baking Powder, 1.5 TSP Baking Soda, 1 TSP Kosher Salt, 2 Cups Granulated Sugar, 3 Sticks of Softened Butter, 2 Large Eggs, 1 TSP Almond Extract, ½ TSP Pure Vanilla Extract

For Frosting:

1 Stick Butter Softened, ½ Cup Confectionery Sugar, 1 TBSP Heavy Creamy, ¼ TSP Almond Extract, Light Pink Or Red Food Coloring, or Sprinkles


Step 1: Prepare Cookies

In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt

In large bowlof stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment ( or handle held mixer), beat Granulated Sugar, and Butter in medium speed until creamy

Add eggs, beating to blend after each

Beat in almond and vanilla extracts

Step 2: Dry Ingredients

Add dry Ingredients and beat on medium low speed until combined

Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until dough is well chilled, at least an hour and up to 2 days

Step 3: Bake

Arrange rack in oven to 350°

Using 1/3 measuring cup, scoop dough and roll into balls

Arrange on parchment lined baking sheet, spacing 4 inches apart

Bake for 18 minutes

Let cool completely before frosting

Step 4: Prepare Frosting

In a large bowl of stand mixer, fitted with paddle attachment ( or hand held mixer), beat butter and Confectionery Sugar on medium speed until creamy and smooth

Add cream and almond extract, and beat until combined

Add food coloring, one drop at a time and beat until desired color is reached

Using off set spatula, frost top of cookies

Step 5: Finish and Serve

Refrigerate frosted cookies until chilled for 30 minutes
